Spring Birthday Card

To get back in the groove this week I decided to play along at Birthday Sundaes and FCCB. The theme this week was "Spring". I used all scraps (love when that happens!) and the bird cut from Cricut Cherry Limeade Lite.
Happy Spring!

Oh My Yum!

I am finally getting back into the groove after vacation. Now that the laundry is caught up and the pantry restocked, I may just get back into the craft room! Until then, I will enjoy these yummy treats I found at Trader Joe's when I was in Seattle. It is probably a good thing the closest one to me here is in New Mexico.

I'm So Lucky Blog Hop!

I am excited to be participating in Honeybean's blog hop this weekend! I hope you have lots of fun hopping through the blogs involved. Lots of super cute stuff. (There will be no Weekly Blend post tomorrow due to the Hop.)

     Now onto the Hop!

The blog hop begins at Honeybean Creations. Jen is offering a challenge/prize too so make sure you follow the rules and and leave a comment on *everyone’s page* and then enter the challenge back at Honeybean!

This is a repurposed coffee tin. I covered it with thick pattern paper, added a Bazzill scallop strip and the "Mug-Frame" cut from Beyond Birthdays (Cricut). Inside is a bag of yummy coffee beans. The card on top says "Lucky Me....to be blessed with a neighbor and friend like you!" I don't know what I would have done after moving here if it weren't for my fabulous neighbor! We carpool for the kids school, have regular coffee dates and walk our little dogs together.

I am truly so lucky to have a my sister and sister-in-law in my life! An, as you can see, we have a lot of fun together!
This LO was made using Coordinating Bo Bunny paper called "Kitchen Spice", Thickers, chipboard and buttons. Instead of tying off the buttons I filled the holes with stickles.

New Toy

On a whim I ordered myself  a Gypsy....it arrived over a week ago an I still haven't opened it! New "techno" toys scare me a little. You should have seen me when I switched from a film to digital SLR camera! With a vacation on the calendar for next week it may be awhile before I get to sit down and play. If you have tips, videos or links that would be helpful for this Gypsy newbie, please share!!

Birthday Sundaes

I am always up for new challenges and Birthday Sundaes sounds like they will be hosting some great ones! In honor of their new site, here is a special Sundae card. (It doesn't meet the requirements of having a birthday greeting on the front but it is a Sundae of sorts!)

(From My Kitchen Cricut cartridge.)

The rest of this weekend I will be cheering on my soccer player and dance star! Praying y'all have a blessed weekend.

O my WOW! Just look at the details in this LO! I didn't get anything on my to do list done the day I found Bug Junkies blog! I was so mesmerized by the attention to detail and the amazingly complicated projects she has done. Really, make sure the coffee cup is full before you head over there to look around.

Java House Wednesday

     Welcome to the House!
As I sit here this afternoon I find that I am spending a lot of time reflecting on friendships; specifically the ones between women. I had the joy of being able to spend a few hours with my cousin and her grandma this week. They were flying out of the Springs to take care of some family business back home in Washington. As we sat at the Seattle's Best cafe inside Borders we had an opportunity to share some of the good, and not so good, things going on in our lives. When I went to bed that night I lay awake thinking about how blessed I have been with the friendships in my life.

My girlfriends are amazing in their ability to overcome adversity, rise above the everyday and make a fabulous  life for themselves and their families. It never ceases to amaze me how they can be available for their friends, children, spouses and more....despite the many hats they wear. I am ever grateful for the ladies who have prayed, laughed, celebrated, cried, mourned and just been with em over the years. No matter where the Army has sent me, I have found them...the friends who have blessed my life. My girlfriends are my heros, the sanity in my crazy whirlwind life, the joy bringers who always know just what to say or do.
Today I'd like to encourage each of us to take time to celebrate the love and friendship that are so much a part of who we are. I encourage you to share your story in a post below. If you prefer to design a project, please share a link!

(Remember, all JHW posts for the month of March will be eligible for the Coffee Love drawing at the end of the month. I am still putting the goodies together for this, promise I will post soon.)

FIF - Twinkle Toes Challenge

It's another Flaunt it Friday challenge! This week is any cut from the Twinkles Toes Lite cartridge.
I opted for a scrapbook LO this time. I used the "ballerina" cut as a title for these photos of Hannah as the Snow Queen in 2008.

(Sorry for the crooked photograph and bright flash, it was late. )

Teen Tunes LO

This year is my first to start scrapping Teen LO's.  I don't want the LO's to be too childish, but still want the young vibe to show through. There is a trick to this when you have been scrapbooking children's layouts for 15 years! (I am 3 years behind on pictures.)

This great paper is "iSee- bright and bold" from Piggy Tales, the Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star collection.  I used silver Thickers for the word Tunes.

Hope everyone has a happy, creative weekend!

Weekly Blend #2

Robust, a little quirky, and oh so tasty!

#1.

Hello! Why haven't I thought of this? I love repurposing projects and this ranks right up there at the top of the list. I see some sassy repurposed glass decorating my house soon. Go check out the great tutorial shared at Happy Clippings. Please share if you try some of these yourself. I'd love to see what creative ideas you gals come up with.

#2.

Saundra, over at Luv Scrapping Together has a beautiful for balance, color and texture in her cards and projects. This card is my fave card find of the week. If you scan down the right side of ehr blog she has projects listed by Cricut Cartridge, pretty handy.

#3.

Oh my gosh! I want a ninja coffee cuff for myself! The KnotWorkshop has some really cute stuff, and not just for coffee drinkers! (The Ninja is mine though...don't even think about it!)

#4.

Love, love this card kit over at Monique Griffith Designs. I bought the Just Because Cards cartridge this week. Excited to get busy with it, especially with inspiration like this! (She has some fabulous scrappy LO's at her site too. Be sure to check it out.)

#5.
Adorable LO found at Scrap-Making. She has some super sweet stamp sets available too.

Java House Wednesday

Yes, it's Wednesday again! This week seems to have flown by. I have been so busy nursing sick kids, working and being Mom, that I haven't even had a second to sit down at my favorite Starbucks (the one with the great view of Pikes Peak) and relax with a hot frothy latte.
One of my favorite aspects of a great coffeehouse is the music. There are times when a quiet corner is perfect, like when I take my school books to study for an exam. (Those days are almost over by the way! Yay!) For the most part though, I like my coffeehouse to have funky, folksy music. The Greener Bean, in Fircrest, WA had live music on some afternoons. Perfection. There is just something great about having background music….like in a movie.

I could bore you with another history lesson this week, on coffeehouse musicians, but I want you to keep reading each week so…let’s talk about the music you listen to when you are scrapbooking/crafting. I have an actual Scrapbook Playlist on my Ipod. It’s like at the coffeehouse, perfect background music for creating. Here’s a partial list of artists on the playlist:

Jack Johnson
Colbie Callait
Natalie Walker
Mat Nathanson
Norah Jones
Paramore
Jennifer Knapp
Sara Bareilles
Needtobreathe
Alicia Keys
Corrine Bailey Rae
Priscilla Ahn
Sara Groves
Owl City
Ingrid Michaelson
Regina Spektor

Who’s on your playlist? Leave a comment with the top five artists you listen to when you are creating. Your name will be entered in the March Coffee Love drawing. (Winner to be announced in the 3/30 Java Wednesday blog post. More details to follow.)

Spring Fever

Yes, it has hit here in the Scrappy Java abode! I know, I'm just as bad as the stores that have Easter stuff out before St. Patrick's Day! I can't help it. I am just loving the bright colors of cardstock scraps lying all over my scrap space this week. Turquoise has been special favorite this week.

On that note, here is an Easter LO I did today while my son was home sick. (He had the nasty Flu bug going around, but is on the mend.)

I used scraps of color from the scrap pile, Michael's Recollection 3D stickers and the Opposites Attract cart for Cricut. (These letters are the Opposite cut.) Fun, and done!
